The Baltimore Orioles dropped another series, with their 4-1 loss tonight at the hands of the New York Yankees.

Without a doubt, the most frustrating aspect of the game was the Top of the 3rd for the O’s. Baltimore had already scored, and had runners on 2nd and 3rd with none-out and the top of the lineup coming up. AJ Burnett ended the threat, by striking out the side (Jones, Markakis, and Wieters in order) to end the inning.

Everyone knows Burnett has filthy stuff. His OPS against is always low, as are his hits allowed per IP. While he came into tonight with a mediocre 5.40 K/9 ratio; he always racks up k’s.

My point is I understand that me stating you have to get those runs in, is an over simplification of things. Still, for tonight that simplification is the truth. The Orioles three most talented players each had a chance to get those runs in, and none of them got the job done.

None of those three O’s have reached the absolute prime of their careers, but the ability of the Orioles to rapidly improve in the near term will be determined by their growth.
