Prior to the start of the 2010 season, there was belief from some Oriole fans (including this one) that Uehara would be able to help stabilize the back of the O’s bullpen.

After missing all of April this year, Uehara returned to the O’s on May 6th making 6 appearances until again going on the DL May 19th. He would not be seen in Baltimore uniform again until the end of June.

In July, Oriole fans have finally gotten a somewhat regular look at Uehara as a relief pitcher. 7 games, 8.1 innings, 2 er, 2 bb’s, 11 k’s.

I would imagine the 35 year-old Uehara, is doing a good job of approximating the performance he provided out of the bullpen during the 2007, and 2008 seasons in Japan.

2008: 89.2 IP, 90 hits, 72 k’s, 16 walks
2007: 62 IP, 47 hits, 66 k’s, 4 walks, 32 saves

It makes me wonder if Uehara has any current trade-value? I’m not expecting getting some huge return for an aging middle-relief pitcher, that has had trouble staying healthy. Just suggesting that a veteran that has had strong professional success, is currently healthy, and has the ability to throw strikes might be able to bring something back.
