Jeremy Guthrie made his 4th 2010 start tonight in Boston, and for the 4th time gave the O’s at-least 6 innings.

Tonight, he went exactly 6 innings, allowing 5 hits, 3 er, 2 bb’s, 1 homer, with 0 k’s.

He has also now allowed 3er or less in each of his outings.

His control is certainly better this year, as he has 5 walks in 26 innings. He came into tonight, with an OPS against of .743 (right around his career mark of .756).

I’ve made no secret that as a fan, Guthrie is probably my favorite Oriole. That said, if his value is on the upswing, the O’s Front Office has to at-least consider moving him.

One thing the Orioles have in abundance is legitimate pitching-prospects. Focusing on Bergesen’s struggles, and Tillman’s start is short-sighted. Tillman, Arrieta, and Britton are among the games best prospects. You will need to find spaces for them in the rotation in quick order.

While I believe the O’s will improve as the year progresses, a 2-14 start makes it hard to justify keeping the roster comprised of players that will not be here long-term. You still need to be adding depth, and augmenting the talent you want to move forward with.
