I assume the outing this weekend, combined with the teams long-term forecasting of Liz made the decision…
That said, at a minimum he needs to make the Major League team… there is nothing for him to prove at the Minor League level.

He can help the rotation, by giving regular innings out of the pen.
I would be disappointed if he was sent back to Norfolk.

Turns 26, on June 8th

2008 MLB – 84.1 ip, 99 hits, 57 k’s, 51 walks

2008 Norfolk – 87 ip, 77 hits, 85 k’s, 32 walks

2007 Bowie – 137 ip, 101 hits, 161 k’s, 70 walks

2006 Frederick – 83 ip, 57 hits, 95 k’s, 44 walks

Guthrie, Uehara, Penn, Pauley, Hill

Sherrill
Ray
Johnson
Hendrickson
Sarfate
Liz
Albers

Things to watch…

1) Hill in the coming week…
2) Albers, if you include his work vs the Dominican Republic, he has pitched 8 innings, 9hits, 2er, 0 walks, 4 k’s… if he is put on the DL, it is because they want to ‘hide him’, and give a roster spot to Baez or Eaton out of camp…
3) Bergesen – 11.2 innings, 13 hits, 5er, 1 walk, 11 k’s… I think the O’s would prefer him to start in AAA… but there is a chance for him to crack the rotation.
4) Baez, Eaton, and Walker… their immediate future is tied to the health of Hill… the possible option of Liz, and the O’s carrying 12 or 13 pitchers.
5) Bass… to me, if he is going to make the team, it will be at the surprise expense of Sarfate…. Unless Johnson’s sore arm requires a stint on the DL.
