Sheets avg 150 innings per season the past 4 years… not great, but better than his reputation.

In 2008 Sheets went:

13-9, 198.1 innings, allowing 181 hits, 158 k’s, and 47 walks.

He had a torn-flexor in his pitching elbow, that scared away teams this off-season.

It is likely he could have signed somewhere by now, but wanted the opportunity to rehab his injury, and catch on to a contender for the 2nd-half of 2009 alone. That way, with performance, he would have the ability to go out and get the multi-year deal he desires.

ESPN’s Fantasy Outlook says he has little to no chance of pitching prior to the All-star break, but that 10-15 starts in the 2nd-half is possible.

This is the same time-frame that was put out publically, after Dr.James Andrews performed the corrective surgery Feb 13th.

I would have no problems with the Orioles signing Sheets… however, to be worthwhile to the Orioles, it would have to be with 2010 being a team-option.

Sheets turns 31 in July.
