ESPN’s Chris Mortenson is reporting that George Kokinis is expected to return to the Ravens. Before leaving for Cleveland, Kokinis served as the Ravens Pro-Personnel Director.

This is an interesting development on a couple of levels to me. First, I applaud the move of adding another member to the organizational hierarchy, that could replace Ozzie Newsome, if Newsome were to leave after the 2010 season.

Secondly, I am interested in why Kokinis was invited back to the organization, and Phil Savage was not?

Savage spent a decade in the Ravens Front-Office, as first the Director of College Scouting, and then the Director of Pro-Personnel. After leaving the Browns in 2008, you would have thought he would have jumped at the chance to re-join the Ravens.

Recently, it was announced that Savage would be joining the Philadelphia Eagles to help with their 2010 NFL Draft.
