No doubt about it, the ACL injury suffered by Ravens CB Domonique Foxworth yesterday is a blow to Baltimore’s Super Bowl aspirations.

I am not under the illusion that Foxworth is one of the League’s true elite corners, but he does have good foot-speed and solid cover skills. What he lacks in ideal size, he makes up for in his leadership abilities.

When the Secondary was struggling mightily last-year, it was Foxworth who pulled the group together into a cohesive unit. He did that by having the group focus on additional film study.

Obviously what (and when) you are going to get production out of Reed at Safety remains a question.

While Washington was removed from the physically unable to perform list, and there is hope that Webb will be ready to start the season with the Ravens, you hate losing a starting caliber Corner before the season even starts.

This puts a lot of pressure on Chris Carr to perform as the Nickel back, and should completely eliminate Carr as an option on Punt and/or Kick Returns.

If Walt Harris can get back on the field and look comfortable as a Nickel or Dimeback (in-conjunction with some positive news on Webb), this injury to Foxworth will become somewhat more tolerable to take.
