“Wanna free fall out into nothing. Gonna leave this world for a while. And I’m free. (freefalling I’m a, freefalling I’m a) Freefalling.” – Tom Petty

These lyrics aptly describe the recent play by the Baltimore Orioles.

Crushed again last night, the O’s have lost 4 in a row, 6 of 7, and have fallen to 24-32 overall.

In the June Preview, I predicted the O’s to go 15-11 in June:

@ Seattle: June 1st – June 3rd
@ Oakland: June 5th – June 7th
Seattle: June 9th – June 11th
Atlanta: June 12th – June 14th
NYM: June 16th – 18th
@ Philly: June 19th – 21st
@ Florida: June 23rd – 25th
Washington: June 26th – 28th
Boston: June 29th – 30th

To get to 15-11 for the month, I saw the O’s going 3-3 on the West Coast, 6-3 vs Seattle, Atlanta, and the Mets.

Saw the O’s going 2-4 on the road vs Philly, and Florida… sweeping Washington, and splitting with Boston.

If the O’s can win today behind Rich Hill, the O’s will only be 1 game off of my expectations.

Jones, and Markakis each had 2 hits last night; maybe they can build off of that today.

Scott continued his tear with 2 more hits of his own, and Reimold homered for the 6th time in 72 Major League at-bats.

With Berken getting lit up for 7 hits, and 9 er in 3.1 innings, it is probably safe to assume that Uehara will take his position in the rotation, with Berken heading back to the Minors.

On the other-hand, David Hernandez was the one pitching out of relief last night.

Hernandez looked exactly like I thought he would out of the bullpen, as he had 2.2 scoreless innings with 4 k’s.

I am not sure if the O’s have decided what they are going to do here. Hernandez’s normal turn in the rotation would have been tomorrow, June 8th – but the O’s are off.

They might have decided it was easier to skip him in the rotation, vs moving everyone else off their normal rest.
