Did you spend any part of this Summer watching the World Cup unfold in South Africa?

Would you like to experience that here in Baltimore? If so, you need to consider buying tickets to the Friendly this coming Saturday (the 31st) between Inter Milan and Manchester City at Ravens Stadium.

Last year’s exhibition of Chelsea and AC Milan brought a $20M dollar shot in the arm to the City. While it would be great to see similar results this year, the big incentive is further positioning Baltimore as a potential host-city for the World Cup (the US is expected to be awarded either the 2018 or 2022 games).

If last year’s sell-out crowd of 71,000 got the attention of the soccer community at-large, strong attendance in consecutive years would really do wonders for soccer in Baltimore. It certainly would reignite conversation about building a Soccer Specific Stadium within in the city (and what size was appropriate).

You can also bet the ever-expanding Major League Soccer would be forced to take a harder look at Charm City. Here is a link to a previous post taking a look at the future of soccer in Baltimore:

This past year Inter Milan won the Serie A for the 5th consecutive season, while also becoming the Champions of Europe.
