The O’s did not sign Hendrickson with the intention of him being in the 2009 rotation, so I will not kill them for inserting him to that position out of need…. but it is time for this to end.

After giving up 5 er, on 6 hits, with 1 bb in 2 innings tonight, Hendrickson’s era is 6.35.
Hendrickson can probably help this team out of the bullpen, and that is where he needs to be.

Adam Eaton was horrible in the National League the last two years, and ‘surprise’, he is horrible in the American League East.
Eaton has pitched 31. 1 innings this year, allowing 38 hits, 15 walks, 5 homers, with 24 k’s.
Eaton has a 7.18 era.

Rich Hill is going to take the job of one of these two pitchers any day now…. and I am sure that the O’s will promote Troy Patton to replace Hill at Norfolk.
I do not know what the internal O’s reports are about Patton’s arm strength, and velocity…. all I know is that he is dominating AA.
If the team wants Patton go to AAA and continue to show results for a month… I can get behind that…. but if the team believes Patton is physically ready, I say promote him now with Hill.

Even if Patton is not the guy to join Hill in the rotation, replacing Hendrickson and Eaton has to be the current priority.
I just had a previous entry stating I believe David Hernandez projects better as a relief-pitcher, and potential closer down the road… but he currently represents a much better option as a starter for the O’s vs either of these two aforementioned pitchers.
