In 2008, the Orioles finished 37-43 at home….. (did not make up a rainout)….. And were 22-50 against the American League East.

Considering the overall winning percentage for the O’s was .422 for the year… the fact that the O’s played .462 ball at home was fairly impressive.

FoxSports put out their Week 1 MLB Power Rankings yesterday, and had Tampa, Boston, NYY 1st, 2nd, and 3rd respectfully….. With Toronto 18th, and Baltimore 20th.

The O’s will again face their division foes 72 times in 2009… which is 44% of the overall schedule. There is nowhere to hide, when you face that level of quality day in, and day out.

Asking the team to go 41-40 at home, and 36-36 against the East is probably too much to ask in 2009, but that should be the goal.
