The Baltimore Sun provided a transcript of Ed Reed’s Friday appearance on the ‘Mad Dog Radio’ channel on Sirius/XM:

On the message boards, what is getting a lot of play is Reed talking about being at 35%, the details of his surgery, and guessing at the time-table for his return.

The interesting aspect of the interview to me was Reed stating, “You know, we’re gonna continue to do the things to try and get back and at least play this year for the fans, man, cause they’ve been hounding me, man. They’ve been asking me, ‘Are you gonna play? Are you coming back? I would love to see you play at least one more year.’ So hopefully we got at least one more in us.”

That comes across as a guy that really loves this City, and wants to try and give us all another season of his brilliance. It also comes across as a guy who is not necessarily attempting to play for himself. If that internal desire does not exist, I wonder if Reed shuts things down if rehab goes a bit longer and harder than expected?
