Here an update on Lance Stephenson from Adam Zagoria of Zagsblog.com, and his guest Tom Konchalski of Highschool Basketball Insider.

Konchalski desribes Stephenson as one of top 5 to 6 players in the 2009 class, and thinks Stephenson is still searching and looking for a home.

While the late NCAA signing period ends May 20th, but both feel Stephenson’s decison could drag out to July or August.

That said, outside of the provided video interview with Mr. Konchalski, Zagoria provides further comments in the blog stating that, “A source within the Lincoln High school athletic department said the school is “planning a press conference at Lincoln within the upcoming weeks” to announce Stephenson’s decision. Take that for what it’s worth. No date has been set, and as far as we know Lance has still not made a decision.”

I think it is a fine arguement to make that if he wanted to come to MD, he would already have signed to be a Terp.

On the other-hand, I think you can make the arguement that Kansas was his lead choice… and when that did not occur, he has stepped back from the process to reevaluate.

I know the rumor is out there that Stephenson and his camp believe Gary’s flex offense is too rigid… but unless Arizona, or Memphis becomes a viable option for Lance, his options are limited.

He has been to the MD campus…. he has not been to Arizona, or Memphis… Gary has visited with him, and his family several times… his high-school teammate James Padgett is going to be a Terp… for as many turns as there has been in this recruitment… I do not think it is completely without reason that he decides he wants to come to Maryland.
