I think Liz should be a near lock for the rotation, but as he does have options – there is a chance he will start 2009 in Norfolk.

He can eliminate that chance with a strong-spring.

In his previous start, Liz went 2innings, giving up 3 hits, with 1 er, and 2 k’s.

Just want to see a progression out of Liz, where he trusts his stuff, and dares hitters to hit him.

Of course, that goes back to throwing strikes… made all the harder by his problems with repeating his mechanics.

The fact that the O’s can gain an additional year of service-time by holding Wieters in the Minors until April 17th, makes it extremely unlikely (and probably unwise) that Wieters can do anything to earn an Opening Day position with the O’s.

That said, I find it interesting that the Orioles are batting Wieters cleanup today… even with the ‘B’ team playing.
