Orioles President of Baseball Operations Andy MacPhail stated over the weekend that the Managerial search might go into the off-season.
What I took from that was that MacPhail did not want to bring in a new Manager and have him deal with this train wreck of a year. That and the new Manager would probably have difficulty in assembling the Coaching staff he would want, in the middle of a year.

I think my Dad had the best answer to this, with his suggestion the O’s should hire the Manager they want now, but just not put him on the bench. This would allow the hired Manager to work with MacPhail on watching, and evaluating the roster (and the existing Coaches) on an everyday basis as a paid-employee, and not just as an impartial 3rd-party. That Manager could also spend time in the Minors, getting a real understanding of what exists.
