In this first-round West Bracket Match-up, it was the ACC over the Pac-10, the Terps beat the Golden Bears.

It was a relatively well-played game, that was even until the 11:30 mark of the 2nd-half, until MD pulled-away late.

By percentage, Cal was the best 3pt shooting team in the country, but MD held them to 7 of 24 behind the arc.

Other numbers of note… The Terps lost on the boards 33-29, and made only 16 of 24 free-throws.

MD will need to bury their FT’s at a higher percentage to beat Memphis.

Individual numbers included:

Vasquez – 27pts, 5boards, 4assists, 2 steals
Neal – 15pts, 4 boards… interesting to note, he only took two 3pointers.
Hayes – 14pts, 4boars, 4assists, 2steals
Bowie – 12pts, 7assists, 3boards
Milbourne – 9pts, 5boards
Mosley – 3pts, 3boards
Gregory – 4pts, 5boards

I thought Milbourne against Cal’s limited post-players would have a stronger impact… and I thought Mosley’s physical style might have made a difference as well.

As that did not occur, it was nice to see Bowie build off his efforts vs Duke in the ACCT Semi-Final, and have another good outing.

Despite Memphis having troubles vs the 15 seed yesterday, it will take a large effort for MD to beat Memphis tomorrow.

Would be a good-time for an x-factor to break out with a strong game. Cliff Tucker is certainly due.
