The weather was iffy this morning, and early afternoon… but just wound up being a fantastic day for baseball at Oriole Park at Camden Yards.

After a rather horrible Spring, Jeremy Guthrie rose to the occassion and provided 6 solid innings… allowing 7hits, 3er, 3 bb’s, with 3 k’s.

I was worried his velocity was off going into this start, so it was good to see him consistently sitting at 93-94, and occassionally hitting 95.

Roberts and Jones with 3 hits a piece, and Markakis with 2.

Mora, and Izturis both made strong plays in the field… particularly enjoyed Izturis’ play as it was mental, and not just reactionary.

From an Oriole perspective, the only negative was the rough outing from Ray. He appeared to be overthrowing, which is not surprising after being out all of 2008, and feeling the adrenline rush of Opening Day.

My first impression at the game, was that the crowd included a roughly 10% Yankee audience… but as the game progressed, it was clear that was inaccurate… much closer to maybe 5% Yankee fans.

Oriole fans were into the game from the beginning… spent large portions of the game on their feet… and made Teixeira realize he will never be looked at the same way in his home city.

The O’s are off tomorrow, and will match-up with NY again Wednesday night with Uehara making his Major League debut.
