The O’s had a very successful home-stand, that ended with back-to-back losses. The loss today, was utter domination from Detroit starter Edwin Jackson.

Jackson was once one of the premier prospects in all of baseball during his time with the LA Dodgers, that went through a number of lean years as he tried to emerge in the bigs.

It is worth remembering, that just two seasons ago he was 5-15 for Tampa.

Today, Jackson went 8 innings, allowing just 2 hits, 1 walk, with 7 k’s. He gave way to Rodney in the 9th, who closed the door.

From the O’s perspective, the organization had to be encouraged by Jason Berken’s 2nd Major League start.

Berken went 7 innings, allowed 4 hits, 1 er, 1 homer, with 2 bb’s, and 2 k’s. He attacked hitters, and showed a degree of poise on the mound. He clearly had none of the butterflys that were present in his debut, and was ready for the challenge today.

Hendrickson worked the 9th for the O’s today, in just his 2nd apperance since May 19th. Understandably, he was not sharp.

If the team is going to keep Walker as the situational lefty, and does not have the confidence to use Hendrickson, than the team has to think about cutting him once Uehara returns.
