The Baltimore Orioles lost to the Seattle Mariners, and their prized 23 year-old pitcher Felix Hernandez Wednesday night at Oriole Park.

Hernandez had his full allottment of pitches working tonight, and again showed why he is one of the best in baseball.

The O’s had runners in scoring position several times, but were unable to come-up with the big hit.

Guthrie had the start for the Orioles, and took the loss.

In 6 innings, Guthrie allowed 6 hits, 3er, with 0 bb’s, and 2 k’s. A decent outing, but he allowed 2 more homers, as Jose Lopez tagged him twice.

Robert Andino continues to look more comfortable, and flashed a strong-arm with a long-throw from the hole.

Brian Roberts went 3 for 4, and had some good at-bats.

Matt Wieters had 2 hits for the second straight game, and his first two at-bats were something to watch.

In his first at-bat, he worked the count in his favor, and smashed a line-drive up the box. In his second at-bat, he turned on a fast-ball and drove it to right for a double.

Tomorrow night, Uehara returns from the DL to face former Oriole Garret Olson.

For the O’s to have a successful home-stand, they have to win some series.

Olson has not started since May 31st, so he figures to not be overly sharp. He also will be dealing with the emotions of facing his old-team.

Of course, Uehara has been out of action since May 23rd, so maybe it is a wash.
