With the Orioles 5-3 victory in Detroit last-night, they have won their 3rd consecutive series here in September.

If you are like me, you went into this 6 game road trip to New York and Detroit wondering how the Orioles would respond. They came within an inning of a sweep against the Yankees, and have taken the first two games against the Tigers.

After Swisher’s homer to beat the O’s Wednesday, I thought Friday’s game in Detroit would be interesting. It was an emotional loss, and several times during this year when the O’s have experienced similar losses – a fog has hung over the team for several games. Maybe the day off Thursday helped, maybe Showalter deserves credit. Whatever the reason, the Orioles are showing some emotional growth as the season winds down.

More importantly, the starting pitching just continues to be outstanding. Showalter was quoted after the game last-night as saying Guthrie is the type of pitcher you need if you want to compete in the American League East. Not to read too much into those comments, but hard to imagine Guthrie being used as a trade commodity this Winter.
