Yesterday, the Baltimore Ravens released DE Trevor Pryce. Even with just 2.5 sacks in his last 13 games (and 11 in 32 games), the move came as a bit of a surprise. That is, until news was found all over the internet that Pryce will likely be resigned by the Ravens next week.

So while Pryce figures to return, the Ravens pass-rush issues remain. The Ravens drafted Kindle with the hope of turning him loose on QB’s opposite of Suggs on passing downs. With Kindle being unavailable, teams are simply doubling Suggs and eliminating him as a weapon.

While Pryce out, I hope that Kruger gets a chance to be activated this week and get after the QB. I think adding Kruger, and Cody to the line will help this defense a lot. Obviously Cody was drafted as a run-stopping tackle, and he was never known as a pass-rusher at Alabama. Still, if you have Cody line-up next to Ngata opposing offensive-lines are going to have to double-team one or the other. Likely that choice will be Ngata. When that happens, Cody is going to have an opportunity to collapse the pocket.

EDIT: Despite claims from Harbaugh in today’s Baltimore Sun that Pryce would return, Pryce has signed with the New York Jets. I do not think Pryce is a huge loss, but you have lost depth.
