Recap Of The November 7th Baltimore Metro Business Development (BMBD) Event!
A component of Baltimore Sports and Life (BSL) that some might not be aware of, is that we operate the networking group Baltimore Metro Business Development (BMBD).
The BMBD group exists to bring professionals from throughout the region together through regular events. The group is comprised of 400 +/- Executives (mostly at a C-Suite level) representing numerous industries, and the most interesting local companies and organizations.
BMBD was formed in July 2015, with the first event being held that September. The speaker for that initial event was University of Maryland Terrapins Football Analyst Tim Strachan.
In 2016, there were three BMBD events. January 2016 lacked a speaker. April 2016 had representation from The Northeast Maglev speaking on a proposed mass-transportation project. July 2016 had Sagamore Development President Marc Weller discussing Port Covington.
The first BMBD event of 2017 was this past January, and headlined by Donald Fry, President and CEO of the Greater Baltimore Committee. Mr. Fry effectively provided a ‘State-of-the-State’ for the local region.
In May we had our second event of 2017, featuring Tom Geddes, CEO of Plank Industries, as the keynote. Mr. Geddes delivered a stirring speech imploring local business to come together for the common-good.
Our most recent BMBD event was earlier this week, and featured a panel discussion of local Women Business Leaders:
The panelists were excellent and informative. One of their common themes was about the necessity of touting our collective strengths as a region.
We believe the 135 confirmed guests, and 100+ companies and organizations who attended are great examples of those strengths.
Our thanks to each for attending! A partial listing of those attendees is available here (BMBD Nov 7th Event Brochure).
Lastly, we would be remiss without also thanking the event sponsor Benchworks!

For those of you who are familiar of us through BMBD, but don’t know much about BSL; here is some background:
BSL is dedicated to analysis and discussion on the Baltimore Orioles, Baltimore Ravens, and the University of Maryland.
There is also coverage of the NFL, College Football, College Basketball, College Lax, Soccer, NBA, MLB, MMA, Sports Media, Pop Culture, etc.
Recommendation from ESPN’s Kevin Van Valkenburg:
“Baltimore Sport and Life is, hands down the smartest place to talk about Maryland-area sports on the internet. It has excellent analysis, and a vibrant message board community that is constantly teaching me something, and discussions don’t get bogged down by the usual trolls that tend to ruin the rest of the internet. With the steady decline of traditional media outlets, I’ve been looking more and more to blogs to follow local teams, and BSL consistently gives me witty and nuanced insights I can’t get anywhere else.”
