Roberts has been ill since he returned from the World Baseball Classic on the 23rd… it is not a tremendously big deal, but you have to have the radar up a bit.

It has been described as a severe cold, so you would think Roberts is still eating and not losing strength.

On the other-hand, Kubtako said this morning that by looking at him, it was clear Roberts felt weak.

Having had regular at-bats in the WBC, combined with all of his Major League experience, Roberts should be ready to go Opening Day – with or without any additional at-bats. Still, if he does not get much time this week, his timing figures to be off… not just at the plate, but possibly with Izturis.

If for any reason, Roberts has to be put on the DL… you would figure that Freel would get the regular time at 2nd… and Gomez or Montanez (possibly both) would be added to the bench.
