5innings, 4hits, 4er, 3 k’s, 2 walks, 2HR
A relatively acceptable outing from Simon today, as he provided the O’s an opportunity to win.

Even if Hill, and Bergesen end the month in the Orioles rotation, Simon figures to be some-what safe for the foreseeable immediate future.

When Hill comes up, he will replace Hendrickson in the rotation… (with Hendrickson going back to the bullpen, and putting Walker’s job as the 2nd lefty in question)…

If Bergesen is promoted, I expect it will be at the expense of Eaton.

Unless Simon is just absolutely horrible, and Bass or Baez show something consistently in long-relief… the rope will be a bit longer for Simon.

Part of the reason for that, is that the O’s have limited their own internal options… Albers has been again slated for the bullpen, Liz has been sent back to AAA, and will be working in relief. Pauley cleared waivers, but the Orioles are not going to promote him, unless they forsee giving him an extended opportunity.

Working back from the labrum injury which forced him to miss all of the 2008 season, the O’s correctly are not going to rush Troy Patton back.

Tillman and Arrieta could both be options for the rotation by mid-season, but very unlikely before that.
Perhaps the next in-line for an internal promotion would be David Hernandez if he is performing at Norfolk.
