The University of Maryland traveled to Indiana tonight, to face the Hoosiers in the ACC/Big 10 Challenge. With a strong 2nd-half, the Terps will be bringing a win back to College Park.

The Good:

1) Indiana might not have enough to even finish in the middle of the Big 10, but that does not diminish the win for Maryland. When the regular season ends, this will still be victory over a major conference team on their home-court.

2) Sean Mosley finished with just 13 points, but he was making a difference all over the court tonight. He gets plenty of floor-burn going after loose balls. He made a tremendous block, as he raced back down the court. He twice got up above the rim higher than we have seen before. On the offensive-end, he is continuing to flourish coming off screens and making intermediate jumpers. Along with his 13 points, he had 9 rebounds, 3 assists, and a steal.

3) When everyone else was cold early, it was Landon Milbourne who was keeping the Terps in the game. He was an efficient 8 for 11 from the field, ending the game with 19 points. He also added 7 boards, 3 steals, and 2 blocks. He was 1 of 2 from 3 point land, making him 4 of 7 from behind the arc for the season.

4) Vasquez was just 4 of 14 from the field, but he got to the foul-line repeatedly. Once there, he knocked down 13 of his 14 opportunities. He also added 8 assists, and 5 rebounds.

5) Jordan Williams was a man in the paint, grabbing 11 rebounds, and adding 2 blocks. Williams had 9 boards against Cincinnati, and 6 more against Wisconsin. So in 3 games against major conference teams, Williams is averaging 8.66 boards. Every MD fan has to be very encouraged by that number.

6) The Terps again limited their 3 point attempts, and were an efficient 5 of 12.

7) Two more 3’s for Hayes, who is now 15 of 31 from long-range. Hayes continues to show an increasing willingness to go to the rim, making him much harder to guard.

8) Padgett had some good interior passing, and Choi was helpful during his 8 mts of playing time.

9) As the press was proving unsuccessful, Gary Williams adjusted and collapsed the defense. This led to a couple of scoring droughts for Indiana, and allowed multiple MD defenders to crash the boards.

The Bad:

1) Maybe I missed something, but I was surprised to see Cliff Tucker glued to the bench tonight. He had been averaging 17 mts a game, shooting 54% from the floor, and providing some defense. So I have to believe there was something behind his number not being called tonight.

2) Jordan Williams shooting slump from the FT continued, as he made just one of five shots. He is getting to the line with some regularity, and can not continue to leave points off the board.

The Ugly:

1) Maryland had 18 turnovers tonight, and a large percentage of those were unforced. To the Terps credit, their possessions did improve as the game progressed.

Up-Next:

Maryland will get another litmus test, as they face the undefeated Villanova Wildcats in the BB&T Classic at Sunday night at the Verizon Center. The Wildcats are currently ranked 3rd in the nation, and will be looking for their 7th win tomorrow night against Drexel.
