It has been a horrific season of Terrapin Football, but there have been some real signs of life in the 1st-half against Florida State today.

Down 1 at half-time, there is a lot of the Terps to feel good about so far today.

Jamarr Robinson continues to gain experience, which can only make him better prepared to help next-season. With a game finally only regular TV, and not ESPN 360, I have a much better sense of what Robinson brings to the table vs. the scouting reports I have read.

I knew he was a good athlete that could make plays with his legs, and that was clearly shown with his 129 yards rushing last-week against NCST. Robinson has also always been described as having a capable arm, but I was pleasantly surprised to see just how strong it is.

Between the experience he is gaining now, his footwork, and his arm strength; it is going to be extremely unlikely that either CJ Brown, or Danny O’Brien unseat Robinson to start 2010.

It is good to see Da’Rel Scott return to game action. Even though he only has a 2.9 yards per carry average in his 8 attempts today, he seems capable of breaking a big run at anytime. He additionally has a 10 yard reception to his name. Getting a few carries today, and next week will help alleviate some of his tentativeness from returning from injury. Even with a crowded back-field, he will come back next-year and be primed for a big Senior season.

I have been excited to see Robinson looking for his TE’s Lansford Watson, and Devonte Campbell for 3 combined catches. These are two under utilized talents, that can add another dimension to the offense.

LB Darin Drakeford absolutely blew up a Florida State player with a hit. Having him with Moten, Wujciak, and Hartsfield next-year is going to be one of the real strengths of the team, and a LB unit comparable to anyone within the conference.

Credit Wjuciak with his interception, and huge return. Another Florida State score, and it could have been game over. Instead he made the play, that set-up the MD TD, and sent the Terps to the locker-room inspired.

Lastly, credit the Coaching staff for going for the TD on 4th and 1 on the FSU Goal-line with under 10 seconds to go. There was no reason to just take the FG, so credit goes to them for making the right decision.

A lot of good things to see on the field right, which just makes the results of the season even more irritating.
