I said in a previous entry, that after watching the Ravens vs the Steelers for 120 minutes plus, that I thought Baltimore was the deeper, more talented team overall.

After watching these teams slug it out for 180 minutes plus, I have to concede that out of the players left on the field – Pittsburgh was/is the superior team.

The Ravens played 19 games this year, going 13-6 overall. 3 of those 6 losses were to the Steelers, and that number speaks for itself.

A few thoughts:

– McGahee was excellent in blitz pickup tonight, and ran hard
– I would still have liked to have seen Rice get more involved
– McClain’s injured ankle, severely limited what the Ravens could do on offense
– For the most part, Pittsburgh won this game by what they were able to accomplish on offense, on 3rd and long
– Stone picking up that unncessary roughness penalty was a killer, and completely changes that drive
– Down 2pts, late in the 4th quarter, Flacco can not be intercepted there….
– Credit Troy P. for making the play
– Suggs, finding a way to play and get two big sacks should not go unnoticed
– Leonhard again made a positive difference
– Flacco made a ton of plays this year, and showed considerable decision making skills. However, the reality is he is going to be remembered on the national stage for the plays he forced tonight
– Ravens fans have to remember that Tomlin left 3 pts on the board with his clock management at the end of the first-half, and Sweed left 7pts on the board with his drop
– Ray Lewis may never get the full credit he deserves on the national stage, but his legacy is secure in Baltimore. He was all over the place tonight, and was the main reason Parker was held to 47 yards on 24 carries

Lastly, I would say to my fellow Ravens fans… a tough loss, is more enjoyable than being a non-factor, and not having had the opportunity for greatness.

The 2008 season was enjoyable. Here is to going even further in 2009.
