Norfolk starters Chris Tillman, and David Hernandez started for the Tides yesterday and today respectively.

Tillman went 6 innings, allowing 7 hits, 2 er, 2 bb’s with 8 k’s.

He appears to still be building back from the groin-pull he had in mid-May.

Still, it was nice to see him get back to 6 innings for the first time since May 12th.

He needs to be able to get ahead with the fastball and be more economical with his pitches, but it should be pointed out again how impressive he has been for Norfolk.

Remember, Tillman just turned 21 in April.

For the year, Tillman is 5-3, with a 2.33 era. He has pitched 54 innings, allowed 48 hits, 16 bb’s, with 63 k’s.

He has also clearly improved his control-rate over what he showed last year at Bowie.

David Hernandez made his first-start for Norfolk today after returning from the bigs. Hernandez was on an 80 pitch-count limit, as his schedule had been interupted.

Hernandez went 4 innings today, allowing 2 hits, 2 er, 3 bb’s, with 7 k’s.
