I have yet to see it officially announced on the Baltimore Ravens website, but Sergio Kindle himself stated he had signed via Twitter last night.

Alright, so you figure Kindle is placed on the Reserve Physically Unable to Perform list and misses the first 6 games. Let us assume he will be medically cleared to play for Week 7 against Buffalo. What will Kindle be able to bring the Ravens at that point?

Not only is he a Rookie, he is a Rookie that missed all of Training Camp. Not only did he miss all of Training Camp, he will have missed the first 6 games of the Season. To me, it will be very difficult to ask Kindle to play OLB at any-point this season. If you are going to get any production from him, it is going to be with his hand in the dirt and the one assignment of rushing the quarterback.

Here is my hope with Kindle. As part of being on the PUP list, he can not practice with the team. What he can do is rehab, and participate in team meetings. I hope he is studying as much as possible. Take the extra film-session, spend additional time with coaches and the experienced players. Until he gets on the field and can transfer the classroom lessons, I understand it will only help so much. Still, by the time the Ravens get to their Week 8 bye he should have a firm grasp on the defense, and how the team plans to use him. When the Ravens play Miami Week 9 on November 7th, I hope Kindle is on the field for a hand-full of pressure package type of plays.

Maybe the Ravens expect more than that, and maybe that explains why they were comfortable with trading Barnes.
