In this case, the Orioles seem to hope, best case, that Duchscherer stays healthy and pitches like the All-Star he once was. Short of that, and what is a more reasonable expectation, maybe he stays relatively healthy and pitches just well enough to buy Tillman and Britton a little more time to refine their game.

There is no doubt in my mind that one of the two, if not both, will see significant time in the rotation this year. It’s a long, long season…
