The Baltimore Orioles have won the first two games of their series against the defending World Champion Philadelphia Phillies.

Trailing 5-3 heading to the top of the 9th, the O’s received a homer from Greg Zaun to pull within 1. After PH Oscar Salazar singled, Brian Roberts hit a 2-run homer to give the O’s the 6-5 lead.

George Sherrill retired the Phillies in-order in the bottom of the 9th, to give the Orioles their 3rd consecutive series win.

The O’s have now won 4 games in a row, and 6 out of 7 overall.

Brad Bergesen started the game for the Orioles, and held the Phillies scoreless for 6 innings. In the top of the 6th Bergesen batted, and reached base on the fielders’ choice.

This seemed to tire him out as he took the mound for the 7th, as his pitches were suddenly up in the zone.

Bergesen finished the night going 6.1 innings, allowing 6 hits, 4 er, 0 bb, with 2 k’s.

The big blow in the 7th, was a PH 3 run homer from Ryan Howard of Danys Baez.

The O’s had 16 hits for the night, including 3 from Zaun, and 2 each from Roberts, Jones, Huff, Wigginton, and Andino.

Andino had impressive night all-around, as he made 3 spectacular defensive plays, and 1 of his hits was an opposite-field double to RF.

With the series win already in their pocket, the game tomorrow against Cole Hamels is effectively a bonus for the Birds.
