2020 Baltimore Ravens Pre-Draft Depth Chart

Some early depth chart thoughts prior to the 2020 NFL Draft:

Offense: 18 Locks

QB: Lamar, RG3, (2) McSorley

RB: Ingram, Edwards, Hill, Ricard (4)

WR: Brown, Snead, Boykin (3) Scott and D. Thomas

OL: Stanley, Skura, Brown, Powers, Mekari, Smith, Bozeman (6), Holden, Prince

TE: Boyle, Andrews, (2) Scarff

Defense: 21 Locks

DL: Campbell, Williams, Wolfe, Mack, Ellis (5)

OLB: Judon, Bowser, Ferguson, Ward (4)

ILB: Fort, Board (2), Alaka

S: Thomas, Clark, Elliott, Richards, Levine (5)

CB: Young, Humphrey, Peters, J. Smith, Marshall, (5) Averett

Special Teams:

Tucker, Koch, Cox  (3) – All locks.

So that’s 42 guys on the roster. There are 11 more spots to fill.

The new PS rules matter, teams have a bigger PS and are able to activate to players per week onto the active roster this year, which matches the increased number of active players. I think that’s going to result in teams trying to hide more players. Specifically, I think 3^rd QBs are going to be on the PS. A guy like Scarff, or a Boyle or Ricard “project” that’s replacing him probably can get stashed on the PS and activated if we want, too.

The Ravens have 8 draft picks and of the guys on the bubble, I think Alaka, Scott, Scarff and Averett will make it to the OD roster. And we’ll probably add 2 more vets to take spots. If it played out like that, the Ravens would only be able to carry 6 of the 8 from the draft. Obviously, this is 100% a crap shoot and just too early of a draft chart, but if I had to guess how it shook out, it’d look like this:

2 WR: I think they’ll have 6 total WRs. I think Scott will get a look next year. And I think of the other two receivers that are brought in, we’ll see one that KR (or get a defensive player that can). I think Thomas is gone, though.

1 OL: They need at least one more body here at least. And perhaps more, but late round picks could get stashed on the PS and get activated for backup needs. Skura’s health matters, too. I think this is a spot that gets a lot of depth attention on the roster with Yanda’s loss. I think one of these guys could be a vet.

1 TE: I think they won’t risk losing Scarff or draft a guy they really like as a blocker around when they drafted Boyle.

1 DL: The five guys the Ravens have will get most of the work here. I see this as a project type, later in the draft. Or a UDFA.

2 ILB: Baltimore needs a bonafide starter, and then the Ravens need one more guy for depth. I think Alaka is going to get a look here, but he’s got to be able to play ST if he wants to play.

2 OLB:  I think there is one project here, and one potential starter added in the draft.

2 CB: I think we’ll see a draft pick here, again. But I also think Averett gets his final look. The Ravens like their CBs and like the depth there. I think they continue to fill that.
