2024 NFL: Previewing Week 10

As Week 10 prepares to kickoff tomorrow night, there are 9 NFL teams which are 2-6 or worse, and 11 teams with at-least 6 wins.

The haves and have nots.

Let’s review Week 9, and preview this coming week.

Week 9 Quick Hits

Jets 21 Texans 13 – Without Nico Collins, and Stephon Diggs; the Texans passing attack was obviously less formidable. Does look like Collins could return here in Week 10.  The Jets got a victory they absolutely had to have, with Aaron Rodgers passing for 3 TD’s. Breece Hall averaged 4.9 yards per carry on his 15 attempts. Davante Adams, and Garrett Wilson combined for 16 catches and 181 yards.  New York had 8 sacks!

Falcons 27 Cowboys 21 – Dallas lost again, and lost Dax Prescott (hamstring) to injury. The Cowboys just aren’t good, and hearing Owner Jerry Jones suggest they’d be looking to add was just odd. Atlanta improved to 6-3, and has won 5 of 6.

Bills 30 Dolphins 27 – Tyler Bass hit from 61 for the game winner. Four different Bills players had at-least 4 catches. The Dolphins have played better with Tua Tagovailoa back, but they lost again and are 2-6.

Bengals 41 Raiders 24 – Joe Burrow had 5 TD’s, and the Bengals were 8 of 15 on 3rd down. Cincinnati held the ball for 35 minutes. Trey Hendrickson had 4 sacks.

Chargers 27 Browns 10 – The Jameis Winston ‘magic’ lasted one week, as he had 3 picks. Nick Chubb was limited to 39 yards on 15 carries. Coach Jim Harbaugh has already made a difference with the Chargers. They’re a solid team. They want to be physical, they run the ball. They had 6 sacks in this game, with Tuli Tuipulotu having 2.5. Myles Garrett had 3 sacks for the Browns in defeat.

Titans 20 Patriots 17 – An OT win for Tennessee.  Drake Maye had 206 yards passing, and another 95 yards rushing for the Patriots. These teams are now a combined 4 and 13.

Commanders 27 Giants 22 – New York fell to 0-5 at home, while DC is now 7-2 overall. The Commanders DE Dante Fowler had 2 sacks, and has 6.5 on the year.

Panthers 23 Saints 20 – If you had an extended parlay which included the Saints, the 4th down call from Dennis Allen probably annoyed you. Allen was fired the next day, which seems appropriate for a team which has now lost their last 7 games overall. Some credit to Bryce Young for looking alive.

Ravens 41 Broncos 10 – Denver was in the game until late in the 1st half, but ultimately were just outclassed by the Ravens. The Ravens averaged 7.3 yards per play.

Eagles 28 Jaguars 23 – Philly got up 22-0, and then the Jags worked their way back into the game, with lots of discussion Nationally on Eagle’s Head Coach Nick Sirianni being  a liability for his team. Jags attempted comeback aside, the Eagles did win their 4th in a row, and got multiple highlights from their excellent skill position talent. Is Philly currently the 2nd best team in the NFC?

Cardinals 29 Bears 9 – Was Chicago hung over from their hailmary loss to Washington the week prior? Arizona climbed over .500 at 5-4.  Like the Chargers, they’re pretty solid, and it starts with them playing with some physicality.

Lions 24 Packers 14 – Detroit is probably the class of the NFC North (and NFC) in-general, but this wasn’t exactly a fair fight. I give Jordan Love credit for trying to gut it out for his team, but he just didn’t look right. On the other-hand, Detroit probably also deserves credit for helping to make him look uncomfortable. Detroit is going into the second half at 7-1 overall, 4-0 on the road.

Rams 26 Seahawks 20 – The Rams got the OT win, when Matthew Stafford found Demarcus Robinson for 6. LA got the road division win with Puka Nucua having just 1 reception. Seattle 2nd year WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba had 7 catches for 180 yards, and 2 TD’s.  But that great game wasn’t enough as Seattle fell to 2-4 at home. The Rams are now 4-4 overall, and maybe in position to make a second half playoff push.

Vikings 21 Colts 13 – Minnesota ended their two game losing streak with a pretty convincing win vs. Indianapolis. The Vikings outgained Indy 415 yards to 227. The Colts were just 3 of 11 on 3rd. Jonathan Greenard had 2 sacks, and now has 7 on the year. Sam Darnold had 3 TD’s, connecting with Justin Jefferson for 7 catches, and 137 yards.

Chiefs 30 Buccaneers 24 – Kansas City improved to 8-0 with their OT win. Travis Kelce had 14 catches for 100 yards. DeAndre Hopkins had 8 catches, 86 yards, and 2 TD’s. Kareem Hunt had 106 yards on the ground. Patrick Mahomes was 34 of 44 for 291 yards, and  3 TD’s. Feel like the Bucs may have won the NFC South if their WR’s stayed healthy.

Week 10 Games

Thursday November 7th 

Cincinnati at Baltimore – The Bengals pulled to within a game .500 Sunday, but it’s hard to imagine them making a playoff run if they don’t win this game at Baltimore. They’ve already got the one head-to-head loss at home to the Ravens. That game was a shootout. Will this game have the same level of scoring?

Sunday November 10th

New York Giants vs. Carolina in Germany –  What a fantastic product the NFL is offering the Germans here.

New England at Chicago – The Bears had the hailmary loss to Washington, and followed that up by taking a beating from the Cardinals.  Drake Maye and Caleb Williams for the first time.

Buffalo at Indianapolis –  Josh Allen and the Bills are currently the 2nd seed in the AFC. They can’t afford to let up.  The Colts have now lost their last two and are looking to get back to .500.

Denver at Kansas City – Will the Broncos look better vs. the Chiefs than they did vs. the Ravens?   KC will be coming off of the short week.

Atlanta at New Orleans – With their two head-to-head wins vs. Tampa Bay (and the Bucs WR issues), the Falcons have grabbed ahold of the NFC South. As such, you don’t want to see any let-up here against their divisional foe who has lost their last 7.

San Francisco at Tampa Bay – Christian McCaffrey has returned to practice. I don’t believe he is playing here.  The Niners are coning off their bye, while the Bucs are coming of their game Monday night. Would expect the Niners to win.

Pittsburgh at Washington – The game of the week?  Currently the AFC North leader vs. the NFC East leader. Washington is 4-0 at home, while the Steelers are 3-1 on the road.

Minnesota at Jacksonville –  2-7 Jacksonville hosts 6-2 Minnesota. ESPN’s Match-Up Predictor gives the Vikings a 59% chance of winning.

Tennessee at LA Chargers – Another team the Chargers should comfortably beat.

Philadelphia at Dallas – Feels like another ugly result is coming for the Cowboys, to be followed by another unnecessary Jerry Jones Press Conference.

New York Jets at Arizona – New York had the win over the Texans and the mini-bye, but they’re 3-6.  They have no margin for error, and they’re traveling across the country to play that will enjoy being physical. Could be a rough look for NY.

Detroit at Houston – ESPN’s Match-Up Predictor is giving the Texans a 37.8% chance of the home win. Detroit gets to begin incorporating Za’Darius Smtih.

Monday November 11th

Miami at LA Rams – Miami has played better the last two weeks with Tua back, but they’ve lost both games. Now they’re traveling across the country. The Rams are well positioned to get over .500.
