Luke Scott has a contract that can make him an Oriole through the 2012 season… in 2008, he had 95 at-bats as a DH, with a .579 OPS.
Is he mentally going to be able to handle a full-time transition to DH?
Aubrey Huff played 98 games as a DH last year, and performed.
Huff’s contract expires at the end of this year, and is unlikely to be back in 2010.
As such, might it not make more sense to convert Scott to 1st this Spring?
If Adam Dunn changed his mind, and was willing to either DH or play 1st… you could also make an arguement for trading Scott now, while he has value as a corner OF.
Ultimately, I think the O’s will keep Scott at DH.. and he will adjust.
