It is not often that you lose by 17 points, and feel like you can take away positives from a game… but I believe you can tonight.
MD shot 49% from the floor… tied UNC on the boards 35 to 35… was outscored by only 1 in the 2nd half… and got contributions from a lot of players including:
Sean Mosley – 19pts, 5 boards, 4 assists
Cliff Tucker – 18pts, 4 boards
Eric Hayes – 10pts, 5 assists, 3 boards
Dave Neal – 8pts, 4 boards
MD also got 6 boards from Jin Soo-Kim… 6pts, and 2 boards from Braxton Dupree… 4 boards from Gregory…
It was really great to see Tucker get off the bench, and make a determined effort…. hopefully MD fans can see some consistency from him down the stretch.
Also thought Dupree showed outstanding effort in his 2nd-half mts.
MD played hard tonight, and they continued to attack Carolina.
As I write this, I have not seen the totals, but I would wager MD won the points in the paint tonight.
The bottomline is that the Terps lost to a better team tonight, on the road.
However, MD put 90pts on the board…. and UNC had to make a ridiculous 16 three-pointers, and shoot 20 for 26 from the line to win.
If MD plays as hard down the stretch, as they did tonight – the Terps will have an opportunity to dance in March.
Sunday at GaTech is a huge game, and a needed win.
