As reported by the Baltimore Sun earlier today, the Ravens have traded Antwan Barnes to the Philadelphia Eagles for an undisclosed draft-pick in 2011.

This is a franchise which hates losing draft-picks so after giving up a conditional pick for Josh Wilson, it is not surprising the Ravens moved quickly to recoup that loss.
What is surprising to me is that the Ravens made the decision to live without Barnes. The Ravens were not a team that racked-up a lot of sacks last-season. They drafted Sergio Kindle to help apply a pass-rush opposite of Suggs at that hybrid DE/OLB position. With Kindle’s injury, Barnes appeared to represent one of the better options on the roster for attacking the quarter-back.
Yes, it is accurate that Kruger has looked much improved and appears ready to contribute in his second-year. Still, once the decision had been made to PUP Ed Reed, there should have been room for Barnes on this roster.
On the other-hand, if Barnes remained in Coach Harbaugh’s dog-house and did not figure to be even activated most games – maybe it was logical to get something for him now.
