As the University of Maryland Terrapins entered the 2010 season, their motto was ‘Be there for the comeback.’
Down 28-0 today in Morgantown, the Terps have scored 14 points in the 3rd Quarter to get back into this game against #21 West Virginia.
It has been a tough day for Maryland. They currently have 9 penalties for 62 yards. They are 2 for 10 on 3rd down offensively, while West Virginia has converted 9 of 15 such opportunities.
Perhaps most notably the Terps have 21 rushes for exactly zero rushing yards. (Meggett has 27, and Scott has 6 – but the net zero is the result of losses by the QB).
Despite all of that, Jamar Robinson was able to get Maryland back into this game with two long-strikes (60 and 80 yards) to Torrey Smith. A Kenny Tate interception positioned Maryland to score again as the 3rd Quarter ended, but Smith dropped a wide open look in the end-zone.
As the 4th Quarter starts, Robinson has picked up a crucial 4th and 7 with a 12 yard rushing gain.
Regardless of the ending, the Terps get points today for not laying down and just accepting a beating.
