Back home in the friendly confines of the Comcast Center, the University of Maryland improved to 4-2, with a 72-54 victory over Delaware State of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference.

The Good:

1) Tucker was looking for his shot early, which I like to see. He finished with 15 points, shooting 6 for 7 from the floor.

2) Gregory followed-up his double-double against Illinois with 14 points, 8 boards, 3 assists, 3 steals, and a block tonight.

3) Weijs entered the game, and added a couple of quick buckets. He was able to finish with 9 minutes played tonight, and contributed 6 points, 3 boards, and 2 blocks.

4) Howard came off the bench and hit a couple of 3’s against the zone-defense. Maryland’s Radio Analyst Chris Knoche mentioned that Howard is a little slow getting his shot-off, but has outstanding form. In his 21 minutes, Howard had 8 points, and 2 assists.

5) Maryland had superior size and athleticism, and dominated the boards as they should have winning 38-19 on the glass.

6) Stoglin had a rough night shooting (0 for 5) but the Terps Radio announcers all talked about the passing he showed tonight, and how he should have had more than 2 assists.

7) After getting to the line just 4 times in the first 20 minutes, Maryland manged to get the charity-stripe 13 times in the 2nd-half. The Terps finished 14 for 17 from the line, including Williams’ 4 for 6.

8) Bowie finished with 11 points, 3 assists, hit a 3, and was 4 for 4 from the line. The Terps have played 6 games, and Bowie has scored at-least 9 points 5 times.

9) Palsson had 3 boards in his 9 minutes, and Parker got off the bench for 5 minutes of playing-time.

The Bad:

1) Delaware State controlled the tempo during the initial 10 to 11 minutes with their zone-defense.

2) Maryland finished the game with only 13 turnovers, but 9 of hose game within the first 12 minutes of the game. They tightened-up their ball control after Coach Williams got after them, but it should have been a focus for the players from the start.

3) Jordan Williams provided nothing in the first-half.

4) The Terps were up 27 points with 6:39 on the clock, but saw their lead reduced to 18 down the stretch with their reserves on the floor.

5) Jordan Williams played 31 minutes tonight, and finished with just 4 shots. It does not matter that this game was never in-doubt. It should be a priority of the Terps offense to find Williams on basically every offensive possession.

The Ugly:

1) When a Freshman like Stoglin shows some inconsistency and does not score tonight after putting 17 points on the board against Illinois, you can accept that and move on. When you have a Junior in Mosley finishing with a game with the same amount of turnovers (6) as points, there is a problem. It is imperative that the Terps find a way to get Mosley going Friday night against Elon.
