Today was just a tremendous win for the Terps.
Down 16 points in the 2nd-half, down 9 with 90 seconds on the clock – MD comes all the way back, forcing OT, and finds a way to win.
Start at the beginning of this game, where Vasquez scored the first 16 points of the game for the Terps.
With out a doubt, Vasquez’s performance todays was the most impressive game by a Terrapin since Gilchrist in the 2004 ACC Tournament.
Vasquez finished with MD’s 2nd Triple-Double of all-time, 35 points, 11 boards, and 10 assists.
An unbelievable effort, but Vasquez was not alone out there.
The Terps held UNC to 38% from the floor, and 5 of 19 from 3 point-land.
Burney and Gregory had 2 points , and 2 boards combined, but had huge defensive efforts.
Tucker came off the bench, to torch UNC for 22points, 6 boards, and 5 three-pointers.
In the two-games against UNC, Tucker averaged 20points per game off the bench.
Hayes also had 17pts, and made some clutch free-throws down the stretch.
What is really impressive, is that MD was able to beat UNC for the 3rd straight year while getting limited contributions from Bowie, Milbourne, and Mosley.
The Terps move to 17-9 overall, and 6-6 in the ACC, with Duke coming to Comcast on Wednesday.
