When is Scott Moore going to be given time at SS?
The only way Moore makes the Orioles, is if the O’s go with 12 pitchers, with a 4 man bench… and the organization believes he can be the back-up SS over Gomez or Murphy.

Moore, who turns 25 in November, came-up as a SS when he was first selected by Detroit in the 1st round of the 2002 draft.
However, he has only played 42 professional games at the position… vs 578 at 3rd.
The fact that Freel continues to get time at SS this Spring, shows that the O’s would prefer to not carry Gomez or Murphy. With 71 professional games at SS, I had hoped that Freel would leave camp as a viable option for 20-25 games this year as a back-up at SS to Izturis.
As Freel already has 3 errors at SS this Spring, my guess is that the O’s currently believe they need to carry Gomez or Murphy.
Moore, is out of minor league options. That means the club has to keep him in the major leagues, or put him through waivers to send him to Triple-A Norfolk.
The O’s would probably be able to get Moore through waivers, but that is not an absolute.
Moore is batting .429 this Spring, with his 5 extra base-hits in 21 at-bats… you can believe that has caught the attention of someone.
