After being down 12 points early in the 1st half, the Terps stormed back to tie the game.
A large part of that come-back was based on the 3pt shooting of Eric Hayes, who nailed three 1st-half triples.
In the 2nd-half, Vasquez simply took over… driving to rack, and either scoring or distributing to teammates for open looks.
Hayes scored a career-high 21 points, and finished 5 of 6 from 3.
Vasquez, finished with 17 points, and 10 assists.
The Terps were 15 of 21 from the foul-line, and 9 of 16 from 3.
MD held NCST to 8 of 28 from 3, and limited the Wolfpack bigs (Costner, McCauley, and Smith) to a combined 22 points.
With the win, MD will face second-seeded Wake Forest tomorrow night at 7pm.
The Demon Deacons are an extremely difficult match-up for MD, with their athletic guards and wings… and more importantly the depth and talent inside of Aminu, Johnson, McFarland, and Woods.
Still, in the previous game March 3rd at College Park… Vasquez was 7 of 24 from the floor, Milbourne, Mosley, Bowie, and Tucker had a combined 14 points, MD lost on the boards 46-27, the Terps managed 2 foul shots, and still only lost by 2 points.
If MD can win tomorrow night, the Terps will deserve to dance.
