Smith turns 29 in May, and has seen his yards per reception lower for 3 straight years.

Still, with the Ravens Offensive line, and Flacco a year older and more experienced… Cam Cameron and the Ravens might be able to better take advantage of the TE position this year.

Two TE sets of Heap and Smith would pose multiple match-up problems for opposing teams.

Quinn Sypniewski is also due to return from injury this year.

I guess the thing to watch, is with Smith signed… do the Ravens consider releasing Heap?

I hope they do not. Heap might not be the player he was, but I remain convinced that if he is not standing at the line-blocking, he can be a viable option in the passing game.

In additional TE news, Mel Kiper was on ESPN Radio this weekend and stated the Ravens could consider Brandon Pettigrew out of Oklahoma State with the 1st round pick.
