As we near the end of another regular season of college football, many eyes in College Park have already turned to the 2018 season. With that new season comes a new class of recruits, and head coach DJ Durkin and his coaching staff have a class that’s shaping up to be yet another impressive one. Anchored by plenty of DMV high schoolers and blue-chip linemen, the class currently ranks as the 18th-best in the country and the 4th-best in the Big Ten Conference. Let’s take a more detailed look at the class as it stands today, and at some of the remaining offensive targets on Maryland’s big board.

Quarterbacks
Departures: None
Commit: 3* Tyler DeSue (VA)
Targets: None
The Terrapins landed their quarterback for 2018 in April when they received a commitment from DeSue, who ranks as the 18th-best dual-threat quarterback in the country by 247Sports. He is one of many high-end 3-star recruits in this class for the Terrapins, featuring excellent mechanics and a strong arm to go with his mobility.
Running Backs
Departures: None
Commits: None
Targets: None
With such a deep and talented stable of running backs already on the roster, there is no need for Maryland to add one in their 2018 class. 
Wide Receivers
Departures: Taivon Jacobs, Chris Jones, Jacquille Veii
Commits: 3* Darryl Jones (VA), 3* Dontay Demus, Jr. (DC), 3* Brian Cobbs (VA)
Targets: 3* Jeshuan Jones (FL), 3* Tyree Henry (MD), 3* Teriq Phillips (FL)
With at least two starting wide receivers graduating after this season (potentially three if DJ Moore leaves early for the NFL), this is a position of emphasis for Maryland’s 2018 class. We’ve already learned how much this coaching staff likes tall wide receivers, and that trend has continued as all of their commits and remaining targets stand 6’2” or taller. Jones is their top target, and his commitment was thought to be a competition between Iowa State, Maryland, and Tennessee. However with the recent coaching turnover in Knoxville, the Terrapins’ primary competition may be with the Cyclones. 
Tight Ends
Departure: Derrick Hayward
Commits: 3* Chigoziem Okonkwo (GA), 3* Malaek Bryant (GA)
Target: 3* Andrew Tuazama (NC)
In an attempt to get more production out of the tight end position, Maryland’s coaching staff has already added two pass-catching tight ends to their 2018 class. Okonkwo and Bryant are both smaller, versatile players from the state of Georgia who will join some of the similarly-built tight ends already on the roster for the Terrapins. Tuazama is also a good receiving tight end, but Florida State and East Carolina are thought to be the leaders for his commitment. 
Offensive Tackles
Departures: None
Commits: 4* Jaelyn Duncan (MD), 3* TJ Bradley (PA), 3* Spencer Anderson (MD)
Targets: 4* Rasheed Walker (MD), 3* Hamilton Hall (GA)
The clear emphasis in this recruiting class (and both of Durkin’s previous classes) is the offensive and defensive lines. This year, he brings in two excellent offensive tackles in Duncan and Bradley, and remains in the running for Walker. 247Sports ranks Duncan as the 7th-best player in the state of Maryland, and the 12th-best offensive tackle in the country. Bradley is a JuCo recruit from Lackawanna Community College, and is ranked as the 4th-best JuCo offensive tackle in the nation. Walker is one of Maryland’s top remaining targets, but most projections have him committing to Penn State. 
Offensive Guards
Departures: None
Commit: 4* Evan Gregory (MD)
Targets: None
While the Terrapins only have one offensive guard in their 2018 class, he’s a good one. Gregory is a product of nearby DeMatha Catholic High School, one of two DeMatha players in this year’s class. 247Sports ranks him as the 10th-best player in the state of Maryland, and the 14th-best offensive guard in the country. 
Centers
Departures: None
Commits: None
Target: 3* Zack Zambrano (FL)
With Brendan Moore and Johnny Jordan still on the roster, center isn’t a huge area of need for the Terrapins. However they’re recruiting Zambrano very heavily, and their primary competition seems to be Columbia. They’re the only Power 5 school to offer him a scholarship, so he should be expected to commit to Maryland. 247Sports ranks him as the 19th-best center in the country.
Terps Analyst
Zack is a financial analyst for a defense contractor in Washington, DC. The Owings Mills native focuses most of his efforts on Maryland Football recruiting and individual coach and player pieces; but also covers Terps Basketball. He has established relationships with Big Ten beat reporters across the conference, which he utilizes in his game previews.
