I have defended Penn as much as anyone, but he needed to show something today.
Spring Training numbers only amount to so much, and certainly should carry less weight vs extended Minor League performance and age….. But when you get several opportunities to step-up and prove yourself… and you get crushed each time… you can not blame the organization for lacking confidence.
I personally would still rather carry him vs Adam Eaton, and Baez… but I do not think the O’s will feel the same way.
Hopefully Penn will also clear waivers.
