We’ve passed Week 7, the symbolic halfway point in the college football season. Each week during the season our panel of experts will rank the Top 12 teams in college football. This season our panel includes: Rob Shields, Mike Lowe, Zack Kiesel, Brian (Pedro Cerrano) McGuire, Chris (Ricker Says) Ricker, Steve Birrer, and Chris Stoner. We are looking forward to another exciting season of college football and race to the College Football Playoff.
Week 7 featured two big head-to-head games between members of the Deified Dozen, along with one shocking upset. The latter featured former #2 Georgia losing at home in OT to unranked South Carolina, dropping them all the way to #10. LSU got a big win over Florida and replaced the Bulldogs in the second spot, while the Gators fell to #11. Oklahoma knocked Texas out of the rankings, but only moved up one spot to #5. Wisconsin, Notre Dame and Penn State all got wins over quality opponents to solidify their positions and stay in the running for the College Football Playoff. Finally, Oregon returned to the Dozen for the first time since preseason, coming in at #12.
Week 8 is much lighter on marquee matchups, with the aforementioned Ducks facing the biggest challenge when they travel to Seattle to face their longtime border rival, Washington. #9 Penn State will host Michigan, who are just outside the Top 12 in many polls. South Carolina has a chance to knock of a second member of the Dozen in as many weeks when they host Florida.
