The Orioles won their first series of the year, with their 2-0 win over the Yankees are Oriole Park tonight.
Uehara won his Major League debut, going 5 innings, allowing 5hits, 1er, and walking 1.
Does not have overwhelming stuff, but changes speeds well, throw strikes…. worked in, out, up and down… gave hitters a lot to think about, which made for limited hard-hit balls by New York.
Uehara worked well with Zaun, was clear to see they were two veterans who complimented each other well. Zaun has a limited arm, but is an overall excellent catcher.
The O’s offense had their way with Wang, pounding him for 9hits and 7 er. Markakis lead the way with 3 hits, including his 1st homerun of the year.
Pie was 0-3, with a k… but I was happy to see him work a walk.
Albers, and Sarfate both had some problems, but at least they got some work.
Sarfate has some dominating stuff, but his long-term problems with control could put his spot on the roster in question at some-point.
Baez did his part to make the positive first-impression, that he deserves to stay with the O’s when Eaton is activated April 12th…. will be interesting to see if Bass gets into the game tomorrow.
New York always has a way of making things interesting, and battling you for all of their 27 outs…. just a reminder to close them out, and step on their throat when you have the opportunity.
