Matusz took the mound today for Frederick, and went:
6 innings, allowing 6 hits, 2 er, 2 bb’s, with 8 k’s.
This was Matusz’s 4th start of the year, and cumlatively his numbers are:
21.2 innings pitched, 22 hits, 8 er, 3 homers, 9 walks, and 26 k’s.
His k-ratio points to what Keith Law said when he was drafted; that Matusz’s ability to work backwards and use his off-speed pitches would overwhelm young Minor-leaguers.
That said, his walk-rate, and hits per IP is too high.
Matusz is pitching solid, but he will need to pick it up during his next 3-4 starts to force a promotion to AA Bowie by the end of May.
