The Baltimore Orioles scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 9th against the New York Mets, and their closer Francisco Rodriguez, to win 5-4.
With the win, the O’s have won their 2nd straight series, 4 out of 5, and took 5 out of 9 on the home-stand.
Oriole starter Jason Berken lost it late, but overall had an impressive outing. For the night, Berken pitched 6.2 innings allowing 7 hits, 4 er, 1 bb with 8 k’s.
Beyond the k’s, it had to open some eyes seeing Berken hitting 97 on the OPACY Radar-gun in the 7th inning.
After Matt Albers pitched a scoreless 9th inning, Matt Wieters led off the bottom of the 9th with a double to left off of Rodriguez. It was interesting to see this at-bat, after Rodriguez totally overwhelmed Wieters on Tuesday.
Nolan Reimold, who pinch-hit for Robert Andino in the 9th, and Adam Jones were both extremely impressive in working walks.
With the bases-loaded, Aubrey Huff knocked in the winning run with a line-drive to right.
Earlier in the game, Andino contributed to the offense with his 1st homer of the year.
The O’s head north to Philly for a 3 game series starting tomorrow night.
