Behind the strength of a 3-run homer from Nolan Reimold; the Baltimore Orioles beat the Washington Nationals 6-3 tonight at Camden Yards.
With the win, the O’s moved to 34-40 overall, and 23-17 at-home.
The Orioles were down 2-0 early, as O’s starter Jeremy Guthrie labored through the 1st inning.
Guthrie was able to right the ship enough to provide 5 innings of work, allowing 5 hits, 3 er, 3 bb’s, with 2 k’s.
Trailing 3-1 in the bottom of the 5th, Reimold belted his 9th homer of the year.
Brian Bass started the 6th inning, and loaded the bases without recording an out. Matt Albers replaced Bass, and was able get out of the inning unscathed.
Jim Johnson followed with 2 innings of scoreless relief, and George Sherrill closed out the 9th for his 16th save.
Greg Zaun had the start for the O’s behind the plate, and continued to raise his average with 2 hits (including a HR). He is clearly better able to produce with 1 or 2 starts a week.
Aubrey Huff had two hits of his own, including his 10th homer of the year.
