You have Santana coming back off the DL, and you need to get to him early. Santana had a rehab start on the 28th for the Angels rookie league team. In that game, Santana 3.1 innings, allowed 3 hits, 0 er, 0 bb’s, with 7 k’s.
Santana was awesome last year for LA, going 16-7, with a 3.49 era. In 219 innings, he allowed 198 hits, 47 bb’s, with 214 k’s.
However, his 6 starts for LA this year have been rough. 1-3, with a 7.47 era. 31.1 innings, 45 hits, 13 bb’s, with 21 k’s. You gotta jump him early tonight before he gets his legs under him.
Hernandez making his 4th start overall, and 2nd straight. In the previous 3 starts Hernandez has pitched 5.2, 5.1, and 5.2 innings. In 19.1 total innings, he has allowed 27 hits, 1 homer, 8 bb’s, with 12 k’s.
In 57.1 innings at AAA, Hernandez allowed just 42 hits, and 18 walks, with 79 k’s.
As he settles in, and makes multiple starts this month; I will be watching to see how he handles line-ups multiple-times through, and if he is able to improve his hits, walks, and k’s per IP.
The O’s can not afford a disaster of a road-trip. If you lose tonight, that is what you are setting yourself up for. You need the ‘A’ team lineup, and the stars/leaders of this team need to set the tone.
